๐ Rally Stage Champion 3D
Just you, a narrow road and the clock: trust your co-driver and slide through eight rally stages!
How to play
- Pick a rally car and a stage, then press Start the stage.
- When the lights go green, hold W or โ (GAS) and steer with A and D or โ and โ.
- Read your co-driver's call at the top of the screen, such as Left 3 ยท 80 m.
- The number is how sharp the corner is: 1 is a hairpin and 5 is nearly flat out.
- Brake before the corner with S or โ. On gravel and snow the car will slide, so turn in early.
- Hold Space (HAND BRAKE) to swing the car around the tightest bends.
- Reach the blue STAGE FINISH arch. Beat the gold time for 3 stars. Press R to get back on the road.
A rally game about you, your car and the clock
Rally is not like circuit racing. There are no other cars on the road and no laps to learn. You set off alone on a narrow stage through forest, desert or snow, and you have one chance to get it right. The only thing you are racing is the time set by everybody else. Rally Stage Champion 3D gives you eight of these stages and a set of rally cars, and leaves you to find out how fast you dare to go.
It plays in full 3D in your web browser on a computer, tablet or phone, with nothing to download and no account. A stage takes about a minute, which is just long enough to make a mistake you will want to put right immediately.
Listen to your co-driver
Real rally drivers do not memorise every road. They have a co-driver sitting next to them who reads out what is coming from a set of pace notes. This game does the same thing at the top of your screen. A call such as Right 2 ยท 90 m tells you that there is a corner in ninety metres, that it goes to the right, and how sharp it is.
The number is the key. 5 is a gentle bend you can take nearly flat out. 4 needs a lift, 3 needs a real brake and 2 is tight and needs a lot of speed scrubbed off. 1 is a hairpin, and the note box turns red to warn you. Red and white posts also mark the outside of every corner, so you can see them coming through the trees. After a few stages you will find that you drive by the notes as much as by what you can see.
Three surfaces, three ways to drive
Tarmac grips well and the car goes where you point it. It is the fastest surface and the most like ordinary racing. Gravel is looser: the back of the car slides, the car keeps travelling the way it was going for a moment after you turn, and you need to start each corner earlier. Snow is the most slippery of all. You have to be very gentle, brake much sooner and let the car drift round in a wide arc. Your top speed drops on loose surfaces as well, so every stage has a different rhythm.
Leave the road and you lose half your speed in the grass, snow or sand. If you get well and truly lost, press R and you will be put back on the road. That costs you time, but less than a long crawl back.
How to take a corner on gravel
Rally drivers often use a trick called the Scandinavian flick: they steer briefly away from a corner to get the car's weight moving, then turn into it, and the whole car slides round. You do not need anything so fancy to start with. Slow down early while the car is straight, turn in before you think you need to, and get back on the gas once you can see the exit. For the very tightest hairpins, hold Space for the handbrake. The rear wheels lock, the car pivots quickly, and you can drive away pointing in the right direction.
Eight stages
Pine Forest Sprint is a gentle gravel opener. Quarry Hills adds loose hairpins among the rocks, and Coastal Road is fast, grippy tarmac. Frozen Lake is your first run on snow, wide and very slippery. Sunset Dunes has long sweeping gravel bends in the desert. Mountain Pass is a narrow tarmac road full of switchbacks. Blizzard Ridge is snowy, narrow and twisty with fog closing in. Finally the Championship Finale is the longest stage of all, on gravel at night. All eight are open from the start.
Stars and rally cars
Each stage has a gold time and a silver time. Beat gold for three stars and silver for two; any finish earns one. The finish screen also shows you where your time would place against four other crews. You start in the Clubman Hatch. Six stars unlock the Forest Wagon, twelve the Blue Turbo and eighteen the Group Legend. Faster cars make the gold times much easier, so come back to the early stages once you have a new one. Your progress is saved in your browser on this device.
Tips for faster stages
A clean run nearly always beats a wild one. Sliding wide into the verge costs far more time than the extra tenth you gained by braking late.
Try the different cameras with C. The far view shows more of the road ahead, while the bonnet view gives the greatest sense of speed but is much harder.
Crests can throw you into the air. The car cannot steer or brake while it is flying, so straighten up before you reach them.
Can I play at school?
Rally Stage Champion 3D runs in any modern browser with no download, which is why people look for it as an unblocked racing game. Whether it opens on a school or work network depends on that network's filter, so we cannot promise it will always be unblocked.
More rally and off-road games
For a top-down take on rally try Retro Rally Classic or the rain-soaked Storm Rally Circuit. To go slowly through mud and rocks instead, try Offroad 4x4 Trails. You can find them all on our racing games page.
Frequently asked questions
What do the co-driver numbers mean?
They grade how sharp a corner is. 5 is a gentle bend you can take nearly flat out, 4 needs a lift, 3 needs a brake, 2 is tight, and 1 is a hairpin. The display also shows the direction and the distance.
Are there other cars on the road?
No. As in real rally, you drive the stage on your own against the clock. Your time is compared with four other crews on the finish screen.
How do I use the handbrake?
Hold Space or the HAND BRAKE button while steering. The car pivots quickly around tight corners but loses some speed, so save it for hairpins.
Why does my car slide so much?
Gravel and snow have much less grip than tarmac. Slow down sooner, turn in earlier and be gentle with the steering, especially on snow.
How do I unlock new rally cars?
Earn stars: 3 for beating the gold time, 2 for the silver time and 1 for finishing. Cars unlock at 6, 12 and 18 stars.
Is this game unblocked?
It runs in your browser with no download, but whether it opens at school or work depends on that network's filter, so we cannot promise it. If anonarcade.com opens, the game will work.
Does it work on phones and tablets?
Yes. It runs in 3D with on-screen gas, brake, steering and handbrake buttons. It is free, with no sign-up.
