An open world racing game with no fixed road
Most racing games put you on a track and tell you where to go. Open World Racer 3D gives you a whole city instead. Turbo City has eighty-one junctions, wide ring roads, office towers, quiet streets, parks and traffic that follows its own routes. You can drive to any of it, in any order, for as long as you like. When you feel like a real race, you drive up to a marker and start one.
It plays in full 3D in your web browser on a computer, tablet or phone, with nothing to download and no account. Your stars and unlocked cars are saved in your browser on this device, so you can come back and carry on where you left off.
What is there to do in the city?
There are three things to find. The street races are the main event: eight of them, each starting at a glowing marker with its number floating above it. The hidden stars are the treasure hunt: thirty golden stars sit on the roads and in the city's parks. A thin beam of light rises from each one so you can spot it above the rooftops. The speed traps are camera gantries across six long roads, and each one shows the speed you have to beat.
You do not have to do any of it. Plenty of players just like to cruise round the block, learn the shortcuts and see how quickly they can lap the ring road. Nothing times you until you choose to start a race.
How the street races work
Stop inside a marker's ring and a Start button appears. Press Enter or tap it, and you line up on the grid behind three rivals: Blaze, Nova and Rex. After the countdown, follow the gates. Each one has to be driven through in order, and the yellow one is next. Blue arrows on the road lead to the next corner, and a panel at the top of the screen tells you which way to turn and how far away it is.
If you miss a turn, you are not out of the race. The arrows work out a new way back to the gate you missed, though the detour will cost you places. The traffic lights do not count during a race, but the traffic does. Ordinary cars will still be going about their day, and the hardest part of many races is getting through a busy junction without hitting anyone.
Your rivals drive their own line and slip round traffic and round you. They also ease off a little when they are far ahead and push a little when they are far behind, so a bad start does not end your race.
The eight races
Downtown Dash is a short first sprint through the middle of town. Park Circuit is two laps around the central park. Zigzag Street throws a corner at you every couple of blocks. Ring Road Blast is a flat-out lap of the whole city on its widest road. Office Block Sprint runs straight between the towers before doubling back. Uptown Circuit is two long laps with two very long straights. Cross Town Express crosses almost the whole map, and the Grand City Final is the longest and fastest race of all. All eight are open from the start, and the rivals get faster with each one.
Stars and cars
There are sixty stars in the city. Each race gives you up to three, for twenty-four in total. Add the thirty hidden stars and the six speed traps to reach sixty. You start in the Street Hatch. Ten stars unlock the Tuner Sedan, twenty-four the Sports Coupe and forty the Hyper GT. A faster car makes the later races and the highest speed traps possible, so if a race feels out of reach, go star hunting and come back in something quicker.
Day, sunset or night
Choose the time of day before you drive in. Day gives you the clearest view. Sunset paints the whole city gold and orange. At Night the office windows glow, the street lamps come on and your headlights light the road ahead. It is the same city and the same races, and your stars carry across all three, so it is purely down to what you enjoy driving in.
Tips for winning street races
The corners decide most races. Everyone is quick on the straights, so slow down before a junction while the car is pointing straight, turn in, and get back on the gas as soon as you can see your exit. Keep an eye on the turn panel: if you know a left is coming, you can move across early and take the junction in one smooth line.
Look further up the road than you think you need to. Traffic often bunches at red lights, even though those lights do not apply to you, and swerving round a queue at the last moment is how races are lost. Hold Space for the handbrake if you come into a corner far too fast, and press R to get back on the route if you get well and truly stuck.
Tips for finding every star
Press M to open the city map, which shows every star you have not found yet, each speed trap and every race. On the small map in the corner of the screen, nearby stars show up as pale yellow dots. Remember to look off the road too: several are hiding in the parks, so you will have to bump up over the kerb and drive across the grass.
For the highest speed traps, take a run-up. Start a long way back on the ring road and hold the gas all the way along. If you still cannot reach the speed, you need a faster car.
Can I play this open world racing game at school?
Open World Racer 3D runs in any modern browser with no download, which is why people look for it as an unblocked racing game. Whether it opens on a school or work network depends on that network's filter, so we cannot promise it will always be unblocked.

Frequently asked questions
What is an open world racing game?
It is a racing game set in one big map that you can drive around freely, rather than on a fixed track. You choose where to go and when to race. In this game the map is a whole city with traffic.
How do I start a race?
Drive into a glowing race marker and press Enter, or tap the Start button that appears. The blue arrows lead you to the next race, and you can pick any race on the map by pressing M.
Do I have to win every race?
No. All eight races are open from the start. First place earns 3 stars, second 2 and third 1. You can also earn stars from hidden stars and speed traps.
Is there any crime or police chasing?
No. There are no police, no crimes and nothing to steal. You simply race, explore and collect stars. Crashing into traffic only slows you down.
How do I unlock new cars?
Collect stars. The Tuner Sedan unlocks at 10 stars, the Sports Coupe at 24 and the Hyper GT at 40. Then choose your new car from the menu.
Is this game unblocked?
It runs in your browser with no download, but whether it opens at school or work depends on that network's filter, so we cannot promise it. If anonarcade.com opens, the game will work.
Does it work on phones and tablets?
Yes. It runs in 3D with on-screen steering, gas, brake and handbrake buttons, plus a tap button to start races. It is free, with no sign-up.
