Real equation solving, wrapped in a dungeon-crawl quest
Algebra Quest is a free algebra game built around genuinely solving for x, not just recognizing a pattern. Each locked door shows a one or two-step equation like "4x + 3 = 19", and the player picks the correct value of x from four multiple-choice answers to unlock it and move to the next door. Every equation is generated so it is always exactly solvable, the value of x is picked first and every other number in the equation is built directly from it.
There's no penalty for a wrong pick. It's marked as not quite right so the player can try again on the exact same door, with no lost streak and no timer pressure. Six tiers scale the challenge: one-step addition and subtraction equations, one-step multiplication and division equations, two-step equations built by multiplying then adding, two-step equations built by multiplying then subtracting, a mixed tier that introduces negative values of x, and a bigger-number championship.
Every door unlocked earns key points toward unlocking a new dungeon, from the starting Stone Passage through Iron Gate Hall, Crystal Vault, Shadow Keep, and the Dragon's Sanctum. It's free, works with a mouse, touchscreen, or keyboard since every answer is a real button, needs no download or account, and saves your keys and best streaks locally in your own browser. Frequently asked questions
How do I play Algebra Quest?
Read the equation on the locked door, then click the answer choice with the correct value of x to unlock it and move to the next door.
What happens if I pick the wrong answer?
Nothing bad. You get a gentle look-again message and can try again on the same door. There is no penalty and no lost streak.
What is the difference between the tiers?
Early tiers use one-step equations with addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division. Later tiers move to two-step equations and introduce negative values of x.
How do I unlock new dungeons?
Every door you unlock earns keys. Collecting enough keys unlocks a new dungeon permanently, from the starting Stone Passage up to the Dragon's Sanctum.
