🍉 Watermelon Drop
Drop fruit into the basket and merge matching pairs into the next bigger fruit.
How to play
- Move your mouse (or use the Left/Right arrow keys) to aim over the basket.
- Click, tap, or press Space to drop the fruit. Two matching fruit that touch merge into the next size up.
- Chain merges quickly for a rising combo multiplier, and watch for a glowing golden fruit for a bonus.
- One free Shrink power-up per run helps you recover from a crowded basket.
- Don't let fruit pile up and settle above the dashed line, or the basket overflows (Classic and Daily Challenge only).
- Try Daily Challenge for the same board as everyone else that day, or Zen Mode for endless play with no game over.
- Beat your best score to unlock Pastel, Pixel, and Neon fruit skins.
- Pause any time with the ⏸️ button or the P key, and turn on 🔢 tier badges for a colorblind-friendly way to match fruit.

Watermelon Drop is AnonArcade's original take on the physics-based watermelon-drop merge genre: aim over the basket, drop a piece of fruit, and let gravity do the rest. Two matching fruit that touch merge into the next size up the chain, from a tiny cherry all the way through grape, strawberry, orange, apple, peach, pineapple, and melon, up to a full watermelon. Everything tumbles and settles with real drop physics, so where a fruit actually lands depends on the pile underneath it, not a fixed grid slot.
The basket has a dashed danger line near the top. A fruit bouncing past it on the way down is completely fine; the round only ends if fruit piles up and comes to rest above that line for a couple of seconds. Merging two watermelons, the biggest tier, clears them both out for a large bonus instead of creating something bigger, since there's nowhere further to go.
Merging quickly builds a combo: land a few merges within a couple of seconds of each other and your score multiplier climbs, decaying back to normal (never a penalty) if you slow down. Every so often a fruit drops with a golden glow. Merge it for bonus points and a small clear-out of clutter elsewhere in the basket. And once per basket, a free Shrink power-up shrinks your biggest, most threatening piece down a size, a real way to recover from a crowded board.
Watermelon Drop has 3 ways to play. Classic is the default, unseeded and endless until the basket overflows. Daily Challenge gives everyone the exact same sequence of fruit for the day, so your score is a fair comparison with anyone else who played it, and it tracks its own best score and a daily play streak. Zen Mode drops the danger line entirely for calm, endless play with no way to lose. Beating your Classic best score also unlocks Pastel, Pixel, and Neon fruit skins along the way, purely cosmetic and free to switch between once earned.

Frequently asked questions
How do you play Watermelon Drop?
Aim over the basket and drop a piece of fruit. Any two matching fruit that touch merge into the next size up, all the way from a cherry up to a watermelon, using real physics rather than a fixed grid.
How do I lose?
If fruit piles up and settles above the dashed line near the top of the basket for more than a couple of seconds, the round ends. A piece bouncing past the line briefly while falling is fine, only fruit that comes to rest up there ends the game.
Is this the same as the watermellon game people search for?
Yes, "watermelon drop" and "watermellon game" (the common misspelling) both refer to this same drop-and-merge genre. Watermelon Drop is AnonArcade's original take on it.
Are there other themed versions of Watermelon Drop?
Yes, 5 more: Tropical, Space, Candy, and Winter Editions, plus a smaller, faster Mini Watermelon Drop. All share the same merge physics with a different cast of items. See the full lineup on the Watermelon Games hub page.
What is Daily Challenge mode?
Every player gets the same sequence of fruit that day, so it's a fair way to compare scores with friends. How you play it, where you aim and when, is still entirely up to you. Your daily play streak and your best Daily Challenge score are tracked separately from Classic mode.
What is Zen Mode?
Zen Mode removes the danger line entirely, so there's no way to lose. It's endless, low-pressure play for anyone who just wants to merge fruit without a basket ever overflowing.
What does the golden fruit do, and what's the combo multiplier?
A golden piece appears occasionally; merging it gives bonus points and clears a small piece of clutter elsewhere in the basket. Merging quickly, more than one merge within a couple of seconds, builds a combo that raises your score multiplier the longer the chain runs. Both are pure bonuses, missing one never costs you anything.
Can I unlock new looks for the fruit?
Yes. Beating your Classic best score unlocks Pastel, Pixel, and Neon fruit skins at 100, 250, and 500 points. They're purely visual, picked from a small skin row above the basket, with no effect on gameplay.
