🧱 Brick Breaker

The classic paddle-and-ball block breaker. Break every brick, dodge misses, and climb the levels.

A free brick breaker with real level progression

Brick Breaker is the genre made famous by Atari's Breakout, and later by browser easter eggs like Google's own image-search block breaker doodle: bounce a ball off a paddle to smash rows of bricks above, without letting the ball fall past the paddle. This version keeps that exact core loop and builds a real progression system on top of it: 3 lives per run, colored brick rows, tough bricks that need 2 hits, and levels that genuinely escalate (more rows, more tough bricks) every time you clear a full board, so there's no ceiling on how far a good run can go.

Where you hit the ball off the paddle actually matters here. A hit near the paddle's center sends the ball back close to straight up, while hitting it near either edge sends it off at a much sharper angle, the same aiming technique real Breakout players use to line up a shot at a specific brick or to cut through a stubborn cluster of tough bricks. Breaking a brick occasionally drops a glowing power-up orb: catch it with your paddle and it widens for 8 seconds, buying you some breathing room during a hectic level.

No timer beyond your own 3 lives, no account, and no download. Your best score saves automatically in your own browser (see the Parents & Safety page), and works the same with mouse, touch, or keyboard, so it's fine to play on a shared school Chromebook. See the rest of the lineup on the Block Games hub, or more fast reflex games on the Arcade Games page.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the same as the Google block breaker doodle game?

It's the same genre (a classic paddle-and-ball brick breaker, sometimes called Breakout), rebuilt from scratch for AnonArcade with its own levels, tough bricks, and a widen-paddle power-up. It isn't Google's own doodle game or affiliated with Google.

What are the darker bricks that don't break in one hit?

Those are tough bricks. They take 2 hits to break instead of 1, and they get more common as you clear higher levels. A tough brick looks slightly faded after its first hit so you can tell it's about to break.

How do the power-ups work?

Breaking a brick has a chance to drop a glowing "W" orb. Catch it with your paddle and your paddle widens for 8 seconds, making it easier to keep the ball in play.

How do I play with a keyboard?

Use the Left/Right arrow keys or A/D to move the paddle, and press Space or Enter to launch the ball.
