A calm drive that never ends
Scenic Drive is a free, relaxing driving game in 3D. There are no rivals, no traffic, no timer and no way to crash out. It is just you, your car and a winding two-lane road that stretches on for ever. The road is made up as you drive, so every trip is new: gentle bends, long straights, climbs over the brow of a hill and swooping runs down into the valley. Put your foot down, or take it slowly and look around. It is entirely up to you.
The world is built around the road as it appears: hills, trees, rocks and fields, with a landmark every kilometre or so. You might pass a white windmill turning in the breeze, a red barn with its silo, a striped lighthouse above the sea or a little chapel high in the mountains.
Four regions to explore
Green Hills is classic countryside, with rolling farmland, golden fields, oak trees and pine woods. Coast Road runs along the top of the cliffs with the sea on one side, sandy coves below and lighthouses on the headlands, and it starts at sunset. Desert Highway crosses wide sandy plains under a huge sky, past cacti, boulders, rock arches and flat-topped red mesas. Alpine Pass climbs through dark pine forests with snow-capped peaks all around, and it starts at dawn.
Autodrive, time of day and camera views
Want to sit back and just watch the world go by? Switch on Autodrive and the car steers itself, keeps to its lane and slows down for the bends. Touch the pedals or steering at any time to take back control. Change the time of day whenever you like: bright day, a warm orange sunset, a starry night with your headlights lighting up the road, or a soft pink dawn.
There are four cameras: a close chase camera, a higher chase camera that shows more of the scenery, a bonnet camera for a real driver's view, and a roadside camera that places itself beside the road ahead and watches you drive past, like a car advert. Hide the dashboard with H for a clean view.
Goals, stars and cars
If you like a target, each region has three distance goals: 2 km, 5 km and 10 km in one trip. Only the distance you drive yourself, on the road, counts, and a bar at the top of the screen shows how close you are to the next star. Each goal gives a star, and stars unlock new cars: the Weekend Hatch you start with, the Touring Sedan, the Trail SUV, which copes better with grass and gravel, and the fast Grand Tourer.
You can leave the road whenever you want. The car slows down on grass and sand, and it will bump to a stop if you drive into a tree, but nothing bad happens. Just steer back to the road and carry on.
Why relaxing driving games are good for you
Slow, calm games like Scenic Drive are a lovely way to unwind. Following a gentle road, watching the light change and listening to the hum of the engine can be very soothing after a busy day, and it is still good practice for smooth steering, planning ahead for bends and controlling your speed on hills.
Scenic Drive is free, needs no download or account, and keeps your distances and stars only in your own browser. It works on computers, Chromebooks and tablets with a keyboard or on-screen buttons. See the Parents & Safety page for details. For more driving, try Car Driving Simulator 3D, Offroad 4x4 Trails, Zigzag Drift, or the rest of our Car Games.
