A day on the lake
Lake Fishing Simulator 3D is a free fishing game that you play in your browser. You start at the cabin dock on Pinecrest Lake with a rowboat, a starter rod and a worm and bobber. The lake stretches out in front of you: lily pads, weed beds, a sunken forest of old timber, a rocky point, a river flowing in, a deep hole and a little island. Row out, pick a spot and cast. What will bite today?
This is a calm, realistic fishing game. The water ripples, the light changes from sunrise to sunset to a starry night with fireflies, rain clouds roll over, and every fish behaves differently. Learning where each species lives, and what it likes to eat, is the heart of the game.
Spots and species
Lily Pad Bay holds bass, bluegill and pike. The Weed Beds have perch, pike, carp and the rare muskellunge, the legend of the lake. Sunken Timber is full of crappie and bass. Rocky Point has smallmouth bass and walleye. The River Inlet, where a stream flows in with a little footbridge, is the place for rainbow trout. And the Deep Hole holds lake trout and catfish. There are 12 species to find, each with its own record weight in your journal.
Lures
Each lure attracts different fish. The Worm & Bobber is the classic: cast it out and wait for the bobber to dip. The Spinner flashes and spins as you reel it in. The Jig hops along the bottom. The Crankbait dives as you reel. The Live Minnow tempts the big predators. And the Topwater Frog splashes across the surface, which bass love. Press Q to change lures.
Casting and the strike
Aim with A and D, hold the space bar to charge your cast and let go to throw. With a bobber, watch it closely: when it dips under, press Space quickly to strike and set the hook. With the other lures, hold Space to reel them back through the water, and a fish may grab it on the way.
Fighting the fish
Once a fish is hooked, a tension bar appears. Hold Space to reel while it is green. When the fish makes a run, the tension shoots up into the red: let go, or the line will snap. Pull the rod against the fish with A or D, the opposite way to where it is swimming, to tire it out faster. Big fish jump too, so don't reel hard while one is in the air. Bring it to the boat, then decide: keep it in your livewell to sell, or release it back into the lake.
Time and weather
The day passes as you fish, from dawn to dusk to night. Some fish feed in the morning and evening, some at night, and the weather changes between sunny, cloudy and rain. If the fish stop biting, try a different time, a different spot or a different lure.
Shop and boats
Sell your catch at the Bait & Tackle shop at the cabin dock. Spend your money on new lures, better rods (up to the Pro Graphite Rod), a fish finder that shows fish under the boat, and two motor boats: the Jon Boat with an outboard motor, which unlocks at $500 of earnings, and the fast Bass Boat at $1,600.
Bass tournaments
Three tournaments let you test your skills against five rival anglers: Hank, Rosa, Dale, Mei and Buck. The Spring Bass Classic is held on a cloudy morning, the Summer Slam on a sunny day and the Lunker Cup in the rain. Each lasts seven minutes. Your five heaviest bass count, so if you catch a bigger one when your livewell is full, swap out the smallest. A top-three finish wins prize money and a trophy.

Frequently asked questions
Is Lake Fishing Simulator 3D free?
Yes. It is a free 3D lake fishing game that runs in your web browser with no download, account or plugin.
Why don't the fish bite?
Try a different spot, lure or time of day. Each species lives in its own places, likes certain lures and feeds at certain times.
Why does my line snap?
You kept reeling while the tension was red. Let go when the fish runs, and reel again when the bar turns green.
Where do I catch a muskie?
The muskellunge lives in the Weed Beds and is the rarest fish in the lake, so it takes patience.
How do tournaments work?
You fish for seven minutes against five rivals, and your five heaviest bass count. A top-three finish wins prize money and a trophy.
How do I get a motor boat?
Earn money. The Jon Boat unlocks at $500 and the Bass Boat at $1,600, sold at the Bait & Tackle shop.
