Big-headed hockey on ice

Head Hockey Battle is a free 1v1 hockey game with a simple idea and a lot of laughs. Two winter mascots with enormous heads and tiny skates face off on an ice rink, a puck drops between them, and the first one to slip it into the other net scores. You can head the puck, slap it with your stick, lob it over your rival's head or sneak a hard shot between their skates. The ice is slippery, the puck bounces off everything, and every game ends differently.

If you like puppet hockey style games, head soccer, or any quick two-player sports game, this one is for you.

How to score

There are three ways to put the puck in the net. A slap shot with the stick (Space, S or down) sends it flying low and fast. A header: jump with W and meet the puck with your giant head to send it towards goal. A lob: hold the direction of your own net while you shoot and the puck goes high, over a defender, to drop down behind them. Mix them up: a defender standing in front of the net blocks low shots, so the lob and the header are your best way past.

How to defend

When your stick rests on the ice, it blocks low pucks: stand between the puck and your net and you make a save. But be careful. A really hard low shot can slip between your skates, the famous five-hole, and lobs can drop in behind you. If the puck is on the goal line behind you, swing your stick for a backhand sweep that clears it. Defending well is the secret to winning the Winter Cup.

Power-ups

Every so often a snowflake orb floats over the ice. Hit it with the puck or your head to grab the power inside: ๐ŸŽˆ a big head that blocks more and heads harder, ๐ŸงŠ a freeze that turns your rival into an ice cube for a moment, or ๐Ÿ”ฅ a fire stick that makes every shot faster.

The Winter Cup

The Winter Cup is six rounds of 90 seconds against six mascots, each a better player than the last: Hux the Husky, Pip the Penguin, Fern the Fox, Max the Moose, Pola the Polar Bear and Yuki the Yeti. Win a round for a star, win by two goals or more for two, and keep a clean sheet for three. A tie at the end of the clock goes to a golden goal. Stars unlock new players to choose: Fern, Max, Pola and Yuki.

Quick Match and 2 Players

Quick Match is one game against the computer at Easy, Medium or Hard, for 1, 1.5 or 2 minutes. 2 Players mode puts two people on one device. On a keyboard, player 1 uses A, D, W and S and player 2 uses the arrow keys. On a tablet or phone, each player gets their own set of buttons, one on each side of the screen. It is perfect for brothers and sisters, friends at school, or a parent against a child.

Tips

Do not chase the puck everywhere: if your rival has it, get back in front of your net. Jump only when the puck is high. Use the lob when the other player is standing right in front of you. Hit the power-up orbs whenever you can, especially the freeze. On the ice you keep sliding, so start slowing down early.

About ice hockey

Real ice hockey is played by two teams of six, with a goalie in each net and a rubber puck that can fly at more than 150 km/h. It has been an Olympic sport since 1920. Head Hockey Battle keeps the basics, a puck, sticks, skates and two nets, and adds giant heads and a lot of silliness.

Play anywhere

Head Hockey Battle runs in any modern browser on computers, Chromebooks, tablets and phones, with no download and no account. Your stars and players are saved only in your own browser, and there is nothing to buy. See the Parents & Safety page for more.
