📝 Silly Test

A fake school test where the silliest answer that still makes sense gets full marks.

A hilarious multiple choice test

Silly Test is a free comedy quiz that looks just like a real school test, except the sensible answer is always wrong. Find x? "It's right there, next to the 3." Where was the Declaration of Independence signed? "At the bottom." Your job is to spot the silliest answer that still makes sense, and then enjoy the teacher's red-pen comment. It plays in your browser with no download, and the whole list of funny test answers is further down the page.

Why funny test answers make us laugh

Everyone has seen those lists of funny answers on children's exams, the clever homework replies and the witty answers that are technically right but not what the teacher wanted. They are funny because the logic is perfect, and it just isn't the logic that the question expected. That kind of lateral thinking is a real skill: to write a silly answer that works, you need to understand the question, know what it was meant to ask and then find another meaning. So even though this is a joke, you are still practising how to read questions carefully.

All the answers are made up for fun

Every question and answer in Silly Test was written just for this game. We don't use real children's work, so nobody is being laughed at. The game has no marks that matter, either: getting an F here only means you're too sensible, and you can try again as often as you like.

Four silly subjects

The Silly Math Test has trains, apples and very wide brackets. The Silly Science Test covers the four seasonings and where to find your stomach. The Silly English Test is packed with puns, which makes it a little harder for younger players, and the Silly History & Geography Test has plenty of very confident guesses. Earn stars to open each new test. Each comes with a report card at the end, from "F, for fun" to "A+: top of the silly class".

Good for classrooms and parties

Teachers can use Silly Test as a light way to end a lesson, or to show how much the wording of a question matters. It also works well on a shared screen at a party: read the question, let everybody shout out their answer and see who picks the silliest. And if you want to try writing your own silly answers, the list below is a good place to get ideas.
