Color matching built for the very youngest players
Color Splash Match is a color memory game for preschoolers and kindergartners built around the classic flip-two-cards loop, slowed down and simplified for a first-time player: every card shows a bright color splash once flipped, there is no timer and no move counter working against you, and a non-matching pair just quietly flips back over after a moment with no penalty at all. Finding every pair finishes the board, however long it takes.
Three tiers scale the memory challenge by grid size. Tier 1 uses 8 cards (4 pairs) for a very first round. Tier 2 steps up to 12 cards (6 pairs), and Tier 3 to 16 cards (8 pairs) for a kindergartner ready to hold more colors in mind at once. A fourth bonus tier changes the rules entirely: instead of matching two identical splashes, Color Mixing pairs a card showing two ingredient colors, like red and yellow, with the card showing the color they make together, like orange, a gentle first introduction to color theory that most memory games never attempt.
Every completed pair counts, and the best round length is tracked and saved, so there is a genuine sense of progress without ever punishing a wrong guess. Color Splash Match is free, works with a mouse, touchscreen, or keyboard, needs no download or account, and saves progress locally in your own browser, which also makes it school-safe on a shared classroom device. Frequently asked questions
How do I play Color Splash Match?
Flip a card to reveal its color splash, then flip a second card. If the two colors match, both stay face up. If they don't, they quietly flip back over after a moment so you can try again with no penalty.
What is the color-mixing tier?
Tier 4 pairs a card showing two ingredient colors, like red and yellow, with a card showing the color they make together, like orange, instead of matching two identical splashes.
Is there a timer or move limit?
No. Flip as many pairs as you like, in any order, for as long as you like. There is no timer, no move counter working against you, and no way to lose.
What ages is Color Splash Match good for?
Roughly ages 3 through 6. The 8-card tier suits toddlers and preschoolers, the 12 and 16-card tiers suit kindergartners building memory span, and the color-mixing tier is a great stretch goal for confident five and six-year-olds.
