Counting games that connect a quantity to its numeral
Counting Farm Friends is a counting game for preschoolers and kindergartners built around a two-step loop that most counting games skip: count first, then choose the symbol. Haystacks scattered across a farm scene hide a random animal each, and tapping a haystack flips it over to reveal what's underneath with a little animation. Once a child has counted the animals, three numeral buttons appear, and tapping the one that matches the count reveals every remaining haystack and celebrates. A wrong numeral just wobbles for a moment with no penalty, so counting again and trying another button is always encouraged, never punished.
Three tiers scale the numbers involved. Tier 1 counts up to 5 animals for toddlers and preschoolers just starting to count objects. Tier 2 counts up to 10 for kindergartners building confidence with two-digit thinking. Tier 3 counts up to 15 for confident counters ready for a genuine stretch. Every tier keeps the numeral choices close together (the right answer plus one or two near misses), so a careless guess is unlikely to accidentally land correct, which keeps the counting itself meaningful.
Every few completed rounds earns a star toward unlocking a new farm scene, from the starting Barnyard through Pasture, Pond, Orchard, and Coop scenes, each with its own set of animals to uncover, so there is a real reason to keep playing beyond a raw score. Counting Farm Friends is free, works with a mouse, touchscreen, or keyboard, needs no download or account, and saves progress locally in your own browser, which also makes it school-safe on a shared classroom device. Frequently asked questions
How do I play Counting Farm Friends?
Tap the haystacks to uncover the farm animals hiding underneath, count how many there are, then tap the numeral button that matches your count. A correct answer reveals every remaining haystack and celebrates; a wrong answer just wobbles so you can count again and try another numeral.
Do I have to uncover every haystack before answering?
No. You can answer at any time, but uncovering every haystack first makes counting easier and is the recommended way to play for the youngest counters.
Is there a penalty for picking the wrong numeral?
No. There is no wrong-answer screen, lost life, or timer. The button just wobbles for a moment and the round keeps going until the correct numeral is chosen.
What ages is Counting Farm Friends good for?
Roughly ages 3 through 6. The first tier counts to 5 for toddlers and preschoolers, the second counts to 10 for kindergartners, and the third counts to 15 for confident counters ready for a bigger number.
