Tap the safari animal showing the target letter. No fail state, ever.

Letter recognition built for the very youngest players

Alphabet Safari is a letter recognition game for preschoolers and kindergartners built around one simple, forgiving loop: a target letter appears in big friendly type, six safari animal cards appear below it each showing a different letter, and the child taps the one card that matches. A correct tap is celebrated immediately and moves on to the next round; a wrong tap simply wobbles for a moment with no penalty at all, so a child can keep trying until they find the right one with nothing but positive feedback.

Five tiers cover the full alphabet from both directions. Tier 1 and Tier 2 split uppercase letters into A through M and N through Z so a child is never facing all 26 at once. Tier 3 and Tier 4 repeat that same split for lowercase letters, which are harder to tell apart for a brand-new reader. Tier 5, Match It!, is the real stretch goal: the target letter is shown in uppercase, but every animal card shows a lowercase letter, so the child has to recognize that capital B and lowercase b are the same letter, a skill most letter-recognition games skip entirely.

Every few completed rounds earns a star toward unlocking a new safari zone, from the starting Savanna through Jungle, Coral Reef, Desert, and Arctic Tundra scenes, each with its own set of animal cards, so there is a real reason to keep playing beyond a raw score. Alphabet Safari is free, works with a mouse, touchscreen, or keyboard, needs no download or account, and saves progress locally in your own browser, which also makes it school-safe on a shared classroom device. Frequently asked questions

How do I play Alphabet Safari?

Pick a safari zone and a tier, then tap the animal card showing the target letter shown at the top of the screen. A correct tap starts the next round right away; a wrong tap just wobbles gently so you can try again.

What is the Match It! tier?

Match It! shows an uppercase target letter, but the animal cards show lowercase letters, so a child has to recognize that, for example, capital B and lowercase b are the same letter.

Is there a penalty for tapping the wrong letter?

No. There is no wrong-answer screen, lost life, or timer. A wrong tap just wobbles for a moment and the round keeps going until the correct letter is found.

What ages is Alphabet Safari good for?

Roughly ages 3 through 6. The uppercase tiers suit toddlers and preschoolers just learning their letters, the lowercase tiers suit preschoolers further along, and the Match It! tier is a good stretch goal for confident kindergartners.
