Shape and color sorting built for the very youngest players
Sort My Shapes is a shape and color sorting game for preschoolers and kindergartners built around a simple two-tap loop: tap a shape on the board, then tap the labeled bin it belongs in. A correct match sorts the shape away with a little celebration and a new one takes its place; a wrong bin just wobbles the shape for a moment with no penalty at all, so a child can try a different bin until they find the right one.
Three tiers add shapes one at a time. Tier 1 starts with just circles, squares, and triangles, the three shapes most preschoolers meet first. Tier 2 adds stars and diamonds for five bins to track. Tier 3 adds rectangles for the full set of six, a genuine challenge for a confident kindergartner. A fourth bonus tier keeps the same six shapes but swaps the bins for four colors instead, so a child has to notice that a shape's color matters more than its outline, a skill most shape-sorters never ask for.
Every few sorted shapes earns a star toward unlocking a new scene behind the sorting board, from the starting Playroom through Garden, Beach, and Space backdrops, so there is a real reason to keep playing beyond a raw score. Sort My Shapes is free, works with a mouse, touchscreen, or keyboard, needs no download or account, and saves progress locally in your own browser, which also makes it school-safe on a shared classroom device. Frequently asked questions
How do I play Sort My Shapes?
Tap a shape to pick it up, then tap the bin it belongs in. A correct match sends the shape into the bin with a little celebration; a wrong bin just wobbles the shape so you can try a different bin.
What is the color-sorting tier?
Tier 4 keeps the same mix of shapes but changes the bins to colors instead of shape names, so the same shape might belong in a different bin depending on whether it's red, blue, green, or yellow.
Is there a penalty for choosing the wrong bin?
No. There is no wrong-answer screen, lost life, or timer. The shape just wobbles for a moment and stays on the board until it's sorted into the correct bin.
What ages is Sort My Shapes good for?
Roughly ages 3 through 6. Tier 1's three shapes suit toddlers and preschoolers just learning shape names, later tiers add more shapes for kindergartners, and the color-sorting tier is a good stretch goal for confident five and six-year-olds.
