Maze Muncher: Neon Grid
Clear every pellet from a glowing maze while four differently-minded patrol enemies hunt you down.
How to play
- Move with the arrow keys, WASD, or the on-screen buttons. Your next turn is remembered even if you press it a little early.
- Eat every regular pellet to clear the maze and win the run.
- Four enemies patrol the maze, each hunting a genuinely different way, direct chase, ambush, random wander, or chase-then-flee.
- Grab a glowing power pellet to turn every enemy vulnerable for a few seconds. Touch one then for bonus points, but touching a normal enemy costs a life.
- The openings on the left and right edges wrap you to the other side of the maze.

A classic maze chase game with four real personalities, not one AI in four colors
Maze Muncher: Neon Grid is a classic maze arcade game built around one idea: the four enemies chasing you should genuinely think differently, not just look different. Prowler always steps toward wherever you currently are, the direct chase you'd expect. Ambusher instead predicts a few tiles ahead of the direction you're currently heading and tries to cut you off there, so running in a straight line is actually more dangerous with this one nearby. Drifter doesn't react to you at all, it just wanders the maze at random, which makes it easy to ignore in open areas but an unpredictable hazard in tight corridors. Skulker is the trickiest: it chases you directly like Prowler from a distance, but the moment you get close it flips around and flees toward a safe corner, only turning back to hunt you once you've backed off again.
Movement is smooth, not snapped to the grid: your character glides between tiles, and turns only actually happen the instant you cross a tile's center, with your most recent direction press buffered so an early turn still fires cleanly, the same feel classic 80s arcade maze games are built on. Eating one of the four glowing power pellets turns every enemy pale and slow for a short window, during which touching one sends it home instead of costing you a life, and clearing several in a row before the timer runs out scores an escalating bonus. The openings on the far left and right edges of the maze are wraparound tunnels, useful both for a quick escape and for cutting across the map. Clear every pellet to win the run, or lose all three lives and try again.
Neon Grid is the baseline entry in AnonArcade's maze chase lineup, a moderate, even-handed layout and enemy speed. For a maze with the same four personalities but slightly faster enemies, try Maze Muncher: Candy Factory. If you want one enemy that can suddenly warp near you, there's Maze Muncher: Space Station. For the hardest version, where two enemies actively work together, one flanking while the other chases head-on, try Maze Muncher: Haunted Manor.
Frequently asked questions
How do I control Maze Muncher: Neon Grid?
Use the arrow keys or WASD on a keyboard, or the on-screen direction buttons on mobile. Your next turn is buffered, so pressing a direction slightly before a turnoff still works, you don't need a frame-perfect keypress.
What do the four patrol enemies do differently?
Prowler always heads straight for you. Ambusher tries to cut you off a few tiles ahead of where you're heading. Drifter ignores you completely and wanders at random. Skulker chases you from a distance but flees toward a safe corner if you get too close, then resumes the chase once you back off.
What does a power pellet do?
Eating one of the four glowing power pellets turns every enemy pale and slow for several seconds. While they're like this, running into one sends it home instead of costing you a life, and eating several in a row without letting the timer run out scores an escalating bonus.
What are the side tunnels for?
The openings on the far left and right edges of the maze connect to each other. Walking into one instantly wraps you out the other side, and enemies can use them too, so they're an escape route in both directions.
Is Maze Muncher: Neon Grid free with no account needed?
Yes. It's free with no download and no account, and your best score saves only in your own browser.
