How to play

  • Move with the arrow keys, WASD, or the on-screen buttons. Your next turn is remembered even if you press it a little early.
  • Eat every regular pellet to clear the maze and win the run.
  • Prowler and Flanker actively coordinate here: Flanker swings around to the far side of you from Prowler, so don't assume one open path is safe just because Prowler isn't on it.
  • Grab a glowing power pellet to turn every enemy vulnerable for a few seconds, then touch one for bonus points.
  • The openings on the left and right edges wrap you to the other side of the maze.

A classic maze chase game where two enemies actually work together

Maze Muncher: Haunted Manor is the hardest entry in the series, and the reason is coordination, not raw speed or a random ability. Prowler behaves exactly the way it does in every other maze here, it always greedily steps toward wherever you currently are. Flanker is the same predictive-ambush persona from the rest of the series, but with its targeting formula swapped: instead of guessing a few tiles ahead of your own movement, it continuously reads Prowler's actual live position and paths to the tile on the exact opposite side of you from it. The result is a real pincer, if Prowler is bearing down from the north, Flanker is working its way around to come at you from the south, and neither of them is following a scripted duo routine, Flanker is just always recalculating off wherever Prowler genuinely is at that moment.

Drifter still wanders the maze at random with no idea you exist, and Skulker still chases you from a distance but flees to a safe corner the moment you get close, exactly as in every other maze in the series. Enemy speed and the power pellet system are untouched from the baseline game, so the coordination between Prowler and Flanker is genuinely the only thing making this maze harder, not a hidden second difficulty knob. Movement is still smooth and sub-tile, with your next turn buffered so a direction pressed slightly early still fires the instant it's legal, and the wraparound tunnels on the far left and right edges are still there if you need to break a pincer by crossing the map. Clear every pellet to win, or lose all three lives and try again.

If two coordinating enemies is more than you're looking for, the standalone personalities without any teamwork are in Maze Muncher: Neon Grid and the faster-paced Maze Muncher: Candy Factory. For a different kind of pressure, one enemy that can teleport near you instead of coordinating with the others, try Maze Muncher: Space Station.

Frequently asked questions

What makes Haunted Manor the hardest maze in the series?

Two of its four enemies actively coordinate. Prowler chases you directly like usual, and Flanker continuously reads Prowler's live position and paths to the opposite side of you from it, so the two try to pincer you between them instead of both closing in from the same direction.

Is Haunted Manor's maze layout different from the other games?

Yes, it's its own hand-built layout, separate from Neon Grid, Candy Factory, and Space Station.

How do I control Maze Muncher: Haunted Manor?

Use the arrow keys or WASD on a keyboard, or the on-screen direction buttons on mobile. Your next turn is buffered, so pressing a direction slightly before a turnoff still works.

What does a power pellet do?

Eating one turns every enemy, including the coordinating pair, pale and slow for several seconds. Touching one during that window sends it home for a score bonus instead of costing you a life.

Is Maze Muncher: Haunted Manor free with no account needed?

Yes. It's free with no download and no account, and your best score saves only in your own browser.
