🔢 Number Snake

Every segment carries a number. Matching tiles merge and double as you grow.

2048's merge, applied to a snake's whole body

Number Snake takes the classic eat-and-grow snake formula and gives every segment a real number, starting at 2, the same tile values as 2048. Eating food doesn't just add a blank segment, it appends a new numbered tile to your tail. If that new tile's value matches the tile sitting right in front of it, the two merge into a single tile worth double, and if the newly-doubled tile then matches the next one up the chain, it merges again, the same cascading combo that makes 2048 satisfying, just applied along a moving snake instead of a static grid.

Because merging removes a tile while doubling its value, a long snake can suddenly get shorter and much more valuable in the same move, so managing your tile chain is as much the game as steering is. Score is the running total of every tile eaten and every merge, so a single well-timed cascade can be worth far more than several small bites.

Works with keyboard (arrow keys or WASD), the on-screen D-pad, or swipe gestures on touch devices, no download or account needed. For the traditional version without the merge mechanic, try Classic Snake Arena, or browse the rest of the lineup on the Snake Games hub.

Frequently asked questions

How does merging work in Number Snake?

Every time you eat food, a new numbered tile joins your tail. If that new tile matches the value of the tile right in front of it, they merge into one tile worth double, and that can cascade further up your tail in the same move.

How is this different from Classic Snake Arena?

Instead of just growing longer, your segments carry numbers that merge like 2048, so your score climbs exponentially with big merges instead of a flat amount per food eaten, and a long snake can shrink back down when tiles combine.

What ends a run?

Running into the arena wall or into your own body. There's no wrap-around in this game, unlike Classic Snake Arena's Classic mode.

Is Number Snake free with no account needed?

Yes. It's free with no download and no account, and your best score saves only in your own browser.
