A flying car game you can play in your browser

Flying Car City hands you the keys to a hover car in a city of glass towers. There is nothing to download: the game loads in a browser tab and you start in the middle of the city park, next to the fountain, with skyscrapers all around. Press forward and it rolls off like a normal car. Press up and it lifts off the ground and keeps rising until you are cruising between the 60th floors, with other flying cars streaming along the sky lanes above the avenues.

The car is easy to handle for younger players. It accelerates, brakes and steers like a car, and it holds its height when you let go of the up and down keys, so you can concentrate on where you are going. Buildings are solid, but scraping one just bounces you off and slows you down. The chase camera sits behind the car, the cockpit camera puts you in the driver's seat, and the high camera looks down over the rooftops like a news helicopter.

Sky taxi, neon racing and a coin hunt

In Sky Taxi you are the city's first flying cab. A passenger waits on a rooftop pad with a glowing beam of light above it. Fly over, land gently on the pad, and they hop in. Then fly them to their stop on another tower across town, whether that's the Museum, the Stadium, City Hall or the Opera. Five fares make a shift, and a quick shift with few bumps earns three stars.

Neon Ring Race takes place at night, when every window is lit and the street lamps glow. Sixteen glowing rings lead down the avenues, between the towers, low over the river and back through the park, and the clock starts at the first ring. Coin Hunt hides 30 gold coins around the city, some floating in the streets, some high above the park and some sitting on rooftops, and the arrow always points to the nearest one. Free Drive has no goal at all: just cruise the city, and press N to switch between a sunny day and a neon night.

Flying cars are a classic of science fiction and video games, and this one keeps things friendly: no crashes, no weapons and no traffic accidents, just the fun of flying a car wherever you like. Along the way players practise real skills: reading a minimap, judging height and distance in 3D, planning a route across a city grid, and landing precisely on a small target. Stars from each mode unlock faster cars, from the Aero Coupe to the Sky Cab and the super-quick Jet Racer.
