๐ City Bus Simulator
Stops, doors, passengers and a timetable.
How to play
- Choose a bus and a route, then press Start the Route.
- W or the up arrow accelerates and S or the down arrow brakes. A bus is long and heavy: brake early and swing wide at corners.
- Follow the blue arrows on the road to the next bus stop. The panel at the top shows the turns.
- Stop in the yellow box with the front door next to the green bus-stop sign. The box turns green when you are in the right place.
- Press O (or the door button) to open the doors. Passengers get off and on. When everyone is aboard, press O again to close the doors, then drive on.
- Stop at red lights, keep to 30 mph and drive smoothly: the smiley face shows how comfortable your passengers are.
- Press C to change the camera, H for the horn, Q and E for indicators and R to get back on the road. P pauses.
Drive a real city bus route
City Bus Simulator puts you in the driver's seat of a big, heavy bus in Maple City, a busy 3D town with traffic lights at every junction and cars everywhere. You have a route to drive, a list of bus stops and a timetable to keep. At every stop, people are waiting at the shelter, and it is your job to pull in neatly, let them on and off, and get going again without jolting anyone out of their seat.
Driving a bus is different from driving a car. It is almost twelve metres long, it takes longer to speed up and to stop, and it needs a lot of room to turn. Swing out wide before a right turn or the back wheels will clip the kerb. The GPS paints blue arrows on the road and tells you where to turn next, and the minimap shows the whole route.
Bus stops, doors and passengers
Each stop has a shelter, a bench, a green bus-stop sign and a yellow box painted on the road. Pull up so that your front door is next to the sign; the box turns green when you have it right. Press O to open the doors, and watch passengers step off through the middle door while the people waiting at the shelter walk over and climb aboard through the front. When everyone is on, close the doors and pull away. Open the doors in the wrong place and you lose points, and the bus will not move with the doors open, just like a real one.
Your passengers care about how you drive. Brake too hard or take a corner too fast and the comfort meter drops. Keep them smiling for a better score.
Five routes
Morning Line is a gentle first route with five stops and light traffic. School Run fills the shelters with children and schoolbags and ends at Oak School. Downtown Express has seven stops and heavy traffic. Night Bus runs after dark, when the street lamps and shop windows light up. Free Drive has no timetable at all, so you can explore the city in your bus; press N to switch between day and night.
Each route is scored out of 100, with penalties for red lights, bumps, the wrong doors, harsh driving, speeding over 30 mph and running late. Score 88 or more for three stars. Stars unlock a red double-decker bus and a quiet, quick electric bus.
Why kids love bus simulators
Bus games combine driving skill with a job to do: planning ahead, stopping in exactly the right place, looking after passengers and watching the clock. Children who ride the bus every day love being the driver for a change, and it is a great way to learn about traffic lights, speed limits and being patient on the road.
City Bus Simulator is free, needs no download or account, and saves your stars only in your own browser. It works with a keyboard or with touch buttons on phones and tablets. See the Parents & Safety page for details. More driving: Car Driving Simulator 3D, Parking Pro 3D, or all our Car Games.
