A regrouping game where every single problem actually needs it
Regroup Rescue is a free math game built around one specific skill: regrouping, also known as carrying in addition or borrowing in subtraction. Every problem is generated so it genuinely requires it, no filler problems that happen to be easy. Adding always makes the ones column pass 9, and subtracting always needs more ones than the top number has, so there's no way to solve a round without actually understanding the concept.
Each round shows the starting number already marked on a number line. Click, tap, or use the arrow keys to move a rescue vehicle marker to the answer, then lock it in to clear the way. There's no penalty for missing. A wrong lock-in just asks for another try on the exact same problem, with no lost streak and no timer pressure.
Six tiers scale the numbers involved: two-digit plus one-digit addition first, then two-digit plus two-digit, then the same progression for subtraction, a mixed tier, and a bigger-number championship. Every correct rescue earns a key, and collecting enough keys unlocks a new vehicle, from the starting Ambulance through Fire Truck, Police Car, Helicopter, and Rescue Boat. It's free, works with a mouse, touchscreen, or keyboard, needs no download or account, and saves your keys and best streaks locally in your own browser. Read the equation, then click, tap, or use arrow keys to move the rescue vehicle marker to the answer on the number line. Click Clear the Way to check it.
What does "regrouping" mean?
Regrouping (also called carrying or borrowing) is what happens when adding two numbers makes the ones column go past 9, or subtracting needs more ones than the top number has. Every problem in this game needs it.
What happens if I land on the wrong number?
Nothing bad. You get a gentle try-again message and can move the marker and lock in again on the same problem. There is no penalty and no streak lost.
How do I unlock new rescue vehicles?
Every correct rescue earns keys. Collecting enough keys unlocks a new vehicle permanently, from the starting Ambulance up to the Rescue Boat.
