🟤 Mud Truck 3D

Lifted trucks, giant tyres, deep bog holes: crawl through in 4L and winch out when you sink!

Get muddy

Mud Truck 3D is a mudding game: big lifted trucks, giant tyres and as much mud as you can drive through. Every run is a flagged trail through fields, woods and swamps, with bog holes dug into it. A bog is a pit full of thick brown mud. Drive in too fast in the wrong gear and the wheels spin, the truck digs itself in and before long it is sitting in the mud going nowhere. Drive in the right way and you crawl through, mud flying off the tyres, and climb out the other side covered in it.

The physics are the same ground-following 4x4 simulation as our Offroad 4x4 Trails game, with each wheel following the ground, slopes pulling the truck back and side slopes able to roll it over. On top of that come the bogs, the winch and four new mud trucks.

How bogs work

A bog has two effects. The deeper the mud, the harder it drags the truck back, so even a fast truck slows right down in the middle of a deep pit. And the mud has very little grip: if you ask for more power than the tyres can hold, they spin. Spinning tyres in a bog dig the truck in deeper, which slows it even more, which makes the tyres spin even more. That is how every mudder gets stuck.

The answer is 4L, low range. Press F (or the orange 4L button) before the bog to switch the gearbox to low range. The truck becomes slow but very strong, and in 4L the tyres never spin: they put just the right amount of power down to keep crawling forward. Many players carry a little speed into the pit in 4H and then switch to 4L when the truck slows down. Watch the gear readout: an L in front of the gear number means you are in low range.

The winch

Sometimes you get stuck anyway. Every bog has winch anchor posts with yellow rings at both ends, and the woods are full of trees. Press E, the 🪝 Winch button or the hook on a touch screen, and the winch cable hooks onto the best anchor within 45 metres, preferring one in front of you. The winch drags the truck along at walking pace, turns it towards the anchor and pulls it free of the mud. It lets go by itself once you are out, or press E again to stop it. Winching is never counted as a reset, so it does not cost you stars, but it does cost time.

Eight mud runs and a mud park

Puddle Jumper is the easy start, with two mud strips and a shallow first bog. The Mud Bog Drag is a short sprint with one long pit in the middle, just like a real mud bog race; Mud Bog Drag II is longer and deeper. Hill and Hole mixes steep climbs with bog holes, so you have to keep switching between 4H and 4L. Swamp Run adds a creek crossing in the trees, Winch Woods has three deep bogs where you will probably need the winch, and the Night Bog does it all in the dark with your headlights on. The Mud Nationals is the big one: bogs, mud, climbs, a creek and a jump on one long trail. When you just want to play, the Mud Park has no clock at all.

Four mud trucks

You start in the Mud Runner, a lifted purple pickup with 35-inch-style tyres and a snorkel. The Swamp Buggy, a tube-frame buggy with even bigger tyres, opens at 6 stars. The Bog Hog, a short, strong red truck with huge tyres, opens at 12 stars, and the Mega Mudder, with enormous tyres and the highest ride height, at 20 stars. Bigger tyres grip better in the mud, lift the body higher, and their snorkels let them wade through deeper creeks without flooding the engine.

Covered in mud

The more mud you drive through, the muddier your truck gets. Its paint slowly turns brown in mud strips and bogs, and much faster when the wheels are spinning. At the end of every run the result card says how muddy you got. Starting a run gives you a clean truck again.

Tips for mudding

Switch to 4L before a deep bog, not in the middle of it: you have to be going slowly to change range. Keep the steering straight in a bog, since turning adds drag. If the wheels start spinning, ease off the gas, because more throttle in 4H only digs you in deeper. Stuck? Try reversing out gently first; if that fails, winch. On climbs, use 4L too, and stay on the trail through creeks, because the deep water at the edges floods the engine even with a snorkel. To earn three stars, finish under par without pressing reset.

Controls

On a computer: W or the up arrow is gas, S or the down arrow is brake (hold it at a stop to reverse), A and D steer, F switches 4H and 4L, E winches, C changes the camera, L turns on the lights, H sounds the horn, R goes back to the last flag and P pauses. On phones and tablets, on-screen buttons give steering, gas, brake, 4L and the winch.

Free, safe and made for every device

Mud Truck 3D is free to play in the browser with no download, no account, no chat and nothing to buy, and your stars are saved only on your device. It runs on computers, Chromebooks, tablets and phones with a modern browser. See the Parents & Safety page for more.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get through a bog without getting stuck?

Switch to 4L low range (F) before the bog and keep crawling. In 4L the tyres don't spin, so the truck doesn't dig itself in.

How do I use the winch?

When you are stuck, press E or the 🪝 button. The cable hooks onto the nearest anchor post or tree within 45 metres and pulls you out.

Does winching cost stars?

No. Only resets (going back to the last flag) count against three stars, but winching does take time.

What is a mud bog drag?

A short sprint through one long mud pit, like real mud bog racing. Carry speed in, then keep the truck moving all the way through.

Why does my truck turn brown?

That's the mud! The paint gets muddier the more mud and bog you drive through, especially when the wheels are spinning.

Can I play on a phone or tablet?

Yes. On-screen buttons give steering, gas, brake, 4L and the winch.

Is Mud Truck 3D free?

Yes. It is free to play in the browser with no download, no account and nothing to buy.
