🧱 Syllable Search

Build words one syllable block at a time.

A free syllacrostic puzzle, one shared pool of blocks

Syllable Search hands you a handful of clues and one shared pool of syllable blocks underneath them, and the whole puzzle only works out if every block gets used by exactly one answer. Click a clue to make it active, then click syllable blocks from the pool, in order, to spell out its answer. Fill every blank in that clue's row and it checks itself automatically.

Get it wrong and there's no penalty at all: the blocks you'd placed just return to the shared pool so you can try that clue again with a different combination. Changed your mind about which clue to work on? Click any other unsolved clue instead, and whatever you'd placed on the one you left goes right back to the pool too. That shared, shrinking pool is what makes this a real syllacrostic instead of just four separate word puzzles side by side.

Solve every clue and the whole board clears at once, then a fresh puzzle with a brand new pool loads automatically. Your total puzzles solved is saved locally in your own browser. It's free, works with a mouse, touchscreen, or keyboard, and needs no download or account. See the Parents & Safety page for the full privacy details, or try the party-style Party Word Guess game, or browse the rest of the Word Games hub.

How do you play Syllable Search?

What makes this different from other word games?

Every clue in the puzzle pulls its syllables from the exact same shared pool, and every single block gets used by exactly one answer. Filling in one clue's blocks means those blocks are gone for good, whether you got it right or not.

What if I fill in the wrong syllables?

No penalty. The blocks you used just return to the shared pool automatically, so you can try that clue again with a different combination.

Can I switch to a different clue partway through?

Yes. Click any other unsolved clue to make it active instead, and whatever you'd placed on the clue you left goes back to the pool automatically.
