A superbike, a highway and a lot of traffic
Highway Moto Rider is a free 3D motorcycle game that you play in your browser. You ride a superbike along a long, busy highway. Cars, vans, taxis, pickups, trucks and buses fill the four lanes, and your job is to lean through the gaps as fast as you dare. The road keeps going, the traffic keeps coming, and the further you ride, the busier it gets. How far can you go before your three lives run out?
The world is built in real 3D. The road has white lane lines, crash barriers and overhead sign gantries, and it passes green fields, forests, farm houses and bridges. In Two-Way mode you cross the desert at sunset, with cacti and red rocks beside the road. At night, street lamps glow along the side and your headlight lights up the tarmac ahead.
Leaning and steering
A motorbike does not turn like a car. When you press left or right, the rider leans the bike over and it drifts across the lanes. The faster you go, the further it leans and the quicker it moves. You can see the rider shift their weight and the tyres roll, and the camera tilts a little with the bike so you feel every lane change. Ride into the crash barrier at the side of the road and you crash, so stay inside the lines.
Near misses and combos
The big points come from riding close. Pass a car with less than a metre to spare at more than 100 km/h and you score a near miss. Do it again within a few seconds and your combo grows, so the second pass is worth twice as much and the third three times as much. A near miss on an oncoming car in Two-Way mode is worth double. Get the timing wrong, though, and you clip the car and lose a life.
Wheelies
Hold the space bar (or the 🛞 button) above 40 km/h and the rider pulls the front wheel into the air. You score points for every second you hold it, and a wheelie of more than two seconds earns a bonus when you put the front wheel down. Steering is slower on one wheel, so pick a clear lane first. Pass a car while you are on the back wheel and the near miss is worth double again.
Four ways to ride
Endless is the classic mode: one-way traffic on a sunny day, and the run goes on until you crash three times. Two-Way splits the road in half. The two right lanes go your way and the two left lanes come towards you, and riding on the wrong side scores double. Time Trial gives you 60 seconds on the clock, and every 1.2 kilometres you pass a checkpoint that adds 25 seconds. Night Ride is Endless after dark, with street lamps and car lights.
Bikes and stars
Every mode has three score goals. Reach them to earn stars, and stars unlock faster bikes. The Street 250 is a light, easy bike for learning. The Thunder 600 unlocks at 3 stars and is quicker in every way. The Road King cruiser unlocks at 6 stars: it is heavy but steady. The Hyper 1000 unlocks at 10 stars and is the fastest bike on the road, with sharp steering for the bravest riders.
Cameras
Press C or the camera button to change the view. The chase camera sits just behind the bike, which is the easiest way to see the gaps. The helmet camera puts you in the rider's seat, with the road rushing towards you. The far camera pulls back so you can see more traffic ahead.
Tips for a high score
Look far ahead, not just at the car in front of you. Change lanes early and smoothly instead of swerving at the last moment. Near misses are worth far more than distance, so ride close to the slower cars but leave yourself a way out. Trucks and buses are long, so give them extra room. In Time Trial, stay at top speed in a clear lane and only take risks when you have time to spare.
Play anywhere
Highway Moto Rider runs in any modern browser on computers, Chromebooks, tablets and phones, with no download and no account. Use the keyboard, or the GAS, BRAKE, steering and 🛞 buttons on a touchscreen. Your best scores, stars and bikes are saved only in your own browser. Crashes are a cartoon tumble with no injuries. See the Parents & Safety page for more.
