Weave through traffic, nail the near misses.

🏆 Best: 0 ⭐ Stars: 0 😮 Near misses: 0

How to play

  • Choose a car and a road, then press Hit the Road.
  • Hold W or the up arrow to speed up and S or the down arrow to brake. Steer between the lanes with A and D or the left and right arrows.
  • Pass other vehicles very closely at over 50 mph for a near-miss bonus. Near misses in a row build a combo.
  • Near misses fill the nitro bar. Hold Shift or Space to fire the nitro for a burst of speed.
  • Watch for flashing indicators: other drivers change lanes. Three crashes and your run is over.
  • In Two-Way Trouble, driving in the oncoming lanes scores double. In Time Attack, reach each checkpoint before the clock runs out.
  • Press C to change the camera and P to pause. On phones, use the on-screen steering, pedal and nitro buttons.

An endless highway traffic racer in 3D

Highway Traffic Rush is a fast, free traffic racer that plays right in your browser. You drive along an endless four-lane highway through green countryside, a red desert or a lamp-lit night, and the road is full of other drivers: hatchbacks, taxis, vans, pickups, big box trucks and long coaches, all cruising along at their own speed. Your job is to weave through them without crashing and see how far you can go.

The traffic behaves like real traffic. Cars slow down behind slower trucks, and drivers change lanes, flashing their indicators for a moment before they pull across. Look ahead, spot a gap and go for it. The further you drive, the busier the road gets and the faster everyone moves.

Near misses, combos and nitro

Playing it safe gets you distance points, but the real score comes from near misses. Squeeze past another vehicle with less than a metre to spare at over 50 mph and you score a bonus. Do it again straight away and the combo multiplier climbs. Every near miss also tops up your nitro bar, and firing the nitro sends you surging forward with blue flames and a wider field of view. Driving above about 60 mph also multiplies the points for every metre you cover.

You have three hearts. A crash knocks one off, slows you right down and sends the other car spinning off, and you get a couple of seconds of flashing safety to get going again. Lose all three and the run is over.

Four roads to master

Morning Commute is the classic: one-way traffic on a sunny morning. Two-Way Trouble puts oncoming traffic in the left-hand lanes, and every metre you drive on the wrong side scores double, as do near misses with oncoming cars, if you dare. Time Attack gives you 45 seconds and adds time at every checkpoint, so you have to keep your speed up. Night Highway is the commute after dark, with street lamps overhead and your headlights lighting the lanes.

Each road has three score goals, and each goal you reach earns a star. Stars unlock a cruiser sedan, the Red Rocket sports car and the Gold Lightning supercar, each faster, quicker off the line and sharper to steer.

Why traffic racers are so much fun

Traffic racers are all about quick decisions: reading the road, judging gaps and timing a move at high speed. Every run is different because the traffic is random, the controls are simple to learn, and beating your best score by just a few hundred points is always tempting. They are great for building reaction speed, focus and hand-eye coordination.

Highway Traffic Rush is free, needs no download or account, and keeps your best scores only in your own browser. It works with a keyboard or with touch buttons on phones and tablets.
