The craziest bus in town

Crazy Bus is an arcade driving game where the bus is fast, the fares are short and nobody follows the timetable. Crowds of passengers are waiting all over a busy 3D city, each one desperate to get somewhere: the stadium, the beach, the zoo, the cinema, the theme park. Scoop them up, race them across town before their timer runs out, and grab as much cash as you can before the clock hits zero.

It is a game about speed and quick decisions. Which crowd do you pick up first? Do you deliver the one with the longest trip now, or grab another crowd on the way? Can you squeeze through the park to save a few seconds? Every fare is a tiny race, and every race adds time to the clock.

How to play Crazy Bus

Crowds wait inside glowing yellow rings, with a big icon above them showing where they want to go. A golden arrow on screen points to the nearest one, and the minimap shows them all. Drive into a ring and slow down below about 10 mph, and the whole crowd jumps aboard with a cheer. A new coloured ring appears at their destination, and a fare card on the left shows their timer and how far away it is.

Get to the destination ring and slow down inside it to drop them off. Arrive with plenty of time to spare and you earn a speedy bonus; arrive late and they only pay half. Your bus has room for three crowds at once, so the best drivers plan a route that picks up a second crowd on the way to the first drop-off.

Three ways to play

Crazy Rush is the classic: the clock starts at just 50 seconds, every pickup adds a few seconds and every delivery adds more, especially a fast one. Keep delivering and you can keep going for a long time. Four-Minute Frenzy gives you exactly four minutes to earn as much cash as possible, with no time extensions. Cruise has no timer at all, so you can learn the city, practise your jumps or just enjoy causing chaos.

Each timed mode has three cash goals. Reach them to earn stars, and the stars unlock two more buses: the purple neon Party Bus with a stronger boost, and the Rocket Bus, the fastest bus in the game.

Stunts, combos and boost

The city has eight Stunt Plazas, open paved squares with big striped ramps. Hit a ramp fast and the bus flies; stay in the air for more than half a second and you earn cash for the jump. Pull the handbrake (Space) at speed to slide the bus sideways for a drift bonus, and scrape past traffic for a near miss bonus. Do stunts in a row and the combo multiplier climbs, but a crash resets it.

Every stunt and every delivery fills the 🚀 boost meter. Hold Shift (or B, or the 🚀 button on a touch screen) to fire the rockets at the back of the bus for a big burst of speed. Save it for the long straight roads and the last few seconds of a fare.

Tips for big cash

Do not chase the nearest crowd every time; look at the minimap and pick crowds that are on the way. The Stunt Plazas are real shortcuts across their blocks, and a jump on the way is free money. Slow down early before a ring, because a bus that skids straight through has to turn round. Drift round corners instead of braking hard, and keep your boost for when a fare timer is nearly out. If you get stuck, press R to put the bus back on the road.

Getting to know the city

The city is a grid of streets with traffic lights, busy cars and taxis, tall office towers in the middle and houses further out, with a park right in the centre. The Stunt Plazas sit in a ring around the downtown towers, so whichever way you are heading there is usually one nearby. Crowds can appear on any street, and their destinations are always on the other side of town, so every fare is a proper drive. The minimap in the corner shows waiting crowds as yellow dots and your drop-offs in their own colours, and it turns with the bus so that up is always straight ahead.

Traffic lights do not matter in Crazy Bus, but traffic does: bumping into a car slows you down and resets your combo. Learn which long straight roads cross the whole city and use them as your highways, and remember that the outer ring road is often the quickest way round the edge of town.

Controls

On a computer: W or the up arrow to accelerate, S or the down arrow to brake and reverse, A and D or the left and right arrows to steer, Space for the handbrake, Shift or B to boost, C to change the camera, H for the horn, P to pause and R to get back on the road. On phones and tablets the steering arrows are on the left, the brake and gas pedals are on the right, and the DRIFT and 🚀 buttons sit in the middle.
