Galaxy Invasion: CRT Arcade
The same fixed-grid firefight, reskinned with a glowing green phosphor scanline look straight out of an 80s cabinet.
How to play
- Move with the arrow keys, A/D, the on-screen buttons, or by dragging anywhere on the screen.
- Press Space, tap Fire, or tap the screen to shoot straight up at the alien grid.
- Duck behind the three cover bunkers, they wear down from hits on both sides, yours and theirs, exactly like the baseline game.
- The grid marches faster the fewer aliens remain, and steps closer to you every time it bounces off an edge.
- Clear the whole grid to start a tougher wave with fresh bunkers. Lose all your lives, or let the grid reach your line, and the run ends.

Same fight, a genuinely different retro screen
Galaxy Invasion: CRT Arcade runs the exact same fixed-grid arcade shooter as the baseline game: move along the bottom of the screen, fire straight up at a marching alien grid that steps down and speeds up as it thins, and shelter behind three cover bunkers that erode from real hits on both sides. The grid size, the descent speed, the fire rates, and the bunker erosion are all identical numbers, nothing here is tuned to be harder or easier. What's different is entirely how it looks.
CRT Arcade renders every frame through a genuine retro post-processing pass, not a simple color swap: fine horizontal scanlines drawn over the whole canvas, a radial vignette that darkens the corners like an old television tube, a subtle whole-screen brightness flicker, and a noticeably stronger glow radius wrapped around every sprite, all layered on top of a near-monochrome phosphor-green palette. The bunkers still visibly crater from crossfire, the aliens still explode into real particles, and the marching blip still speeds up as the grid thins, it all just glows green through a scanlined screen, tying directly into the 80s arcade cabinet look this reskin is built around.
Prefer the standard cyan-and-night palette? Play the baseline Galaxy Invasion. Want the same genre pushed to a genuinely harder fight instead of a different look, denser grid, faster descent, bunkers that erode in a fraction of the hits? Try Galaxy Invasion: Mega Swarm. For a different classic arcade genre entirely, AnonArcade's maze chase series has four original mazes: Maze Muncher: Neon Grid, Maze Muncher: Candy Factory, Maze Muncher: Space Station, and Maze Muncher: Haunted Manor.
Frequently asked questions
Is CRT Arcade harder than the original Galaxy Invasion?
No. The grid size, descent speed, fire rates, and bunker erosion are all identical to the baseline game. The only real difference is the visual treatment, a phosphor-green scanline and glow look.
What makes the CRT look different from just a color change?
It's real canvas post-processing drawn every frame: horizontal scanlines, a radial vignette that darkens the corners, a subtle whole-screen brightness flicker, and a much stronger glow radius on every sprite, on top of a near-monochrome green palette, not just a reskinned color swap.
How do I control Galaxy Invasion: CRT Arcade?
Move with the arrow keys or A/D on a keyboard, drag anywhere on the screen with your mouse or finger, or use the on-screen left and right buttons. Press Space, tap the Fire button, or just tap the screen to shoot straight up.
Do the cover bunkers still erode the same way here?
Yes, exactly the same as the baseline game. Both your shots and the grid's return fire chip real, visible craters out of the bunkers, they just glow green while it happens.
Is Galaxy Invasion: CRT Arcade free with no account needed?
