🚗 Driving School 3D
Ten lessons, one talking instructor, then your test.
How to play
- Choose a car, then pick a lesson. The six practice-pad lessons are open straight away; the town lessons open one by one.
- Listen to the instructor and follow the instruction at the bottom of the screen. A green arrow points to the next gate or box.
- Drive with W or the up arrow and brake with S or the down arrow. Hold the brake when stopped to reverse. Steer with A and D or the left and right arrows.
- To finish a task in a box, stop fully inside it, facing the right way, and hold still until the bar fills.
- Use the indicators before every turn in town: Q for left and E for right. They switch off by themselves after the turn.
- Stop completely at stop signs, wait for green at traffic lights, keep to the right-hand lane and watch the speed limit.
- Each lesson starts with 100 points and mistakes cost points. You pass with 70. Press C to change the camera, R to restart and P to pause.
Learn to drive in ten lessons
Driving School 3D is a free driving game that teaches the real basics of driving a car, one step at a time. You have your own instructor, who explains every task in a few simple words, both on the screen and out loud, and a little learner car with L plates. Start by pulling away and stopping in a box, and finish by taking a full driving test through town.
The first six lessons take place on a big practice pad, safely away from the roads. Drive forward and stop smoothly in two boxes. Weave through a slalom of cones. Reverse in a straight line between two rows of cones. Back into a parking bay between other cars. Parallel park beside the kerb, between two parked cars. Then turn the car round in a narrow dead end with a three-point turn.
Rules of the road in the test town
The last four lessons take place in a small town with houses, pavements, junctions, a stop sign and a set of traffic lights. Traffic drives on the right, as in the United States. In the Stop Signs lesson you must come to a complete stop at the white line before turning. In Traffic Lights the signal is red when you arrive, so you wait at the line for green. The Speed Limits lesson has a school zone where the limit drops from 25 to 15 miles per hour, and your speedometer shows the limit.
In town you also need to use your indicators. Press Q to signal left or E to signal right before each turn. Just like in a real car, the indicator ticks, flashes on the dashboard and switches itself off after the turn. Forgetting to signal costs points.
The driving test
The final lesson is the driving test: one long route through town that puts everything together. Right turns and left turns, a straight run through a junction, the traffic lights, the stop sign, and finally pulling up neatly in a box. The examiner is watching everything: your speed, your lane position, your signals, and whether you stop where you should.
Points, faults and stars
Every lesson starts with 100 points. Hitting a cone, a kerb or a parked car costs 10. Speeding costs 3 for every second over the limit, drifting onto the wrong side of the road or off the road costs 5, and missing a signal costs 10. Rolling through a stop sign costs 20, and going through a red light costs 25. Score 70 or more to pass. Score 85 for two stars and 95 for three. At the end of each lesson you see a list of every fault, so you know what to work on.
Stars unlock more cars to learn in: the Learner Hatch, a Family Sedan, a City SUV and, for the best drivers, a Graduation Coupe.
Why a driving school game is useful
Driving games are fun, but this one also teaches good habits: look where you are going, plan ahead, slow down early, signal before you turn and always stop at stop signs and red lights. The parking lessons are great practice at judging space and at steering while reversing, which even experienced drivers find tricky.
Driving School 3D is free, needs no download or account, and keeps your progress only in your own browser. The instructor's voice uses your browser's built-in speech, and the mute button turns it off. See the Parents & Safety page for details.
