⚾ Home Run Derby Rookie
A gentler derby: a wider home run window and 15 outs to work with.
How to play
- Watch the pitch and swing right as it reaches the plate.
- A well-timed swing is a home run, the window here is noticeably wider than the standard derby.
- You get 15 outs per round, five more than usual, plenty of room to find your timing.
- Your score is total home runs.
The same derby rules, an easier tier to learn on
Home Run Derby Rookie runs on the same all-or-nothing scoring as Home Run Derby, home run or out, nothing in between, but tuned to be genuinely easier to learn on: the timing window for a home run is noticeably wider, so a slightly early or late swing still connects, and you get 15 outs instead of 10, more chances to find the rhythm before the round ends.
It's the same real derby feel, just with more forgiveness while you're still getting a sense of the pitch speed and the plate. Once landing home runs here feels easy, the standard Home Run Derby is the real test.
