🐧 Penguin Ice Slide

Hold to dive, let go to fly. A one-button penguin slide before the sun sets.

A penguin, a hill and one button

Penguin Ice Slide is a free one-button game about a little penguin who loves to slide. Endless icy hills roll away to the horizon, the sun is slowly setting, and your penguin wants to get as far as it can before bedtime. Hold the button and the penguin tucks in and dives, zooming down the slopes. Let go on the way up the next hill and it flies off the top, flippers flapping, soaring over the valley. Land smoothly on the next downhill and you keep all that speed, ready for an even bigger flight.

It is a game a four year old can play and an adult can spend an hour mastering, because the rhythm of diving and flying is so satisfying.

Dive down, fly up

The trick is timing. Holding the button makes your penguin heavier, which is great on the way down a hill, because it speeds you up. But if you keep holding on the way up the next hill, you slow down. So: hold on the downhills, let go on the uphills. Do that well and you start to take off from the top of each hill, flying further and further.

Perfect slides and Fever

When you come down from a flight, try to land on a downhill slope, matching its angle. That is a Perfect slide: you keep your speed and get a boost. Land on an uphill, or nose first, and you bump and lose speed. Three Perfect slides in a row start Fever: your penguin glows, gets faster, and every fish is worth double for a few seconds.

Fish, suns and flags

Fish lie along the downhill slopes and hang in arcs over the tops of hills, right where a good flight goes. Golden fish are worth ten. Little ☀️ suns add a few seconds of daylight, and every so often a 🚩 checkpoint flag gives you a bigger bonus. When the sun finally sets, your penguin slows down in the next valley and the day is over.

Day Run and Zen Slide

Day Run is the main game: slide as far as you can before sunset. Your best distance is saved, and the sky slowly turns from blue to orange to a starry night as your time runs out. Zen Slide has no clock at all, so you can practise your perfect slides or just enjoy the hills for as long as you like.

Missions and penguins

Nine missions give you something to aim for: slide 600, 1,500 and 3,000 metres in one Day Run; catch 60, 150 and 300 fish; land 4 and 12 Perfect slides; and reach Fever three times. Each mission is a star, and stars unlock new penguins: Rocky Hopper with a yellow crest, Little Blue, and the shiny Golden Glide.

Tips

Watch the hill, not the penguin: start holding as soon as you go over the top. Let go a moment before the bottom of the valley. Early in a run you will not fly much; keep the rhythm going and the speed builds up. In the air, holding the button makes you drop faster, so you can aim your landing onto a downhill slope. And always go through the flags.

Why kids love it

One button means anyone can play, and the penguin is adorable. The game rewards rhythm and timing, not quick reflexes, so younger children do well, and there is no scary failure: when the day ends, the penguin just goes to sleep.
