- Passengers ride only if one route goes from their stop to a stop next to where they want to go.
- Mornings: homes to work and school. Afternoons: shops and the park. Evenings: everyone goes home.
- Check the end-of-day report, add buses where people are waiting, and grow to a fleet of 30.
Run your own bus company
Bus Company Tycoon puts you in charge of a brand-new bus company in a small, busy city. You start with a little money and an empty map, and every decision is yours: where the routes go, which places they connect, how many buses run on each one and how much a ticket costs. Get it right and your buses fill up, the money rolls in and the city's people love you. Get it wrong and passengers stand at empty stops until they give up and walk.
It is a calm, thinky management game with no time pressure: pause whenever you like, speed the day up when things are going well, and watch your little buses trundle along the streets you drew.
Drawing routes
The city is a grid of streets with places in the blocks between them: homes, flats, an office park, a school, a hospital, a mall and a park. Press New route and tap street junctions to place stops, in the order the bus should visit them. A stop on the corner of a block serves the place in that block, so a good route puts stops next to the places people travel between. The bus drives along the streets from the first stop to the last, then turns round and comes back.
Passengers wait at stops next to the place they are leaving, and they only get on a bus if that route also stops next to where they want to go. There are no transfers, so the best routes link busy pairs of places directly: homes to the office park, homes to the school, the flats to the mall.
Buses, fares and money
There are four kinds of bus. The Minibus is cheap to buy and run but holds only 14 people. The City Bus carries 32. The Double-Decker (unlocked after five goals) holds 60, and the Bendy Bus (after eight) carries 85, but both cost far more in drivers, fuel and repairs each day. Put big buses on busy routes and small ones on quiet routes.
The fare is the same across the whole company: $1, $2 or $3. A cheap fare brings out many more passengers, an expensive one fewer; which one earns more depends on how many buses you have and how full they are. At the end of every day a report shows the fares you took, what you spent on drivers, fuel and stop upkeep, your profit, and a tip about what to try next.
The rhythm of the day
Each day runs from six in the morning to ten at night. In the morning rush, people pour out of the homes towards the office park and the school. Around midday and in the afternoon the mall, the park and later the stadium and the beach get busy. In the evening everyone heads home again. Routes that only work in one direction of the rush still earn twice a day, once each way.
Watch the little number bubbles at the stops: they show how many people are waiting. If people wait too long they give up, and your reputation drops, which means fewer people try the bus tomorrow. Carry people quickly and reliably and your reputation climbs.
Goals and growing the city
Ten company goals mark your progress, from carrying your first hundred passengers to owning a fleet of thirty buses. Each goal earns a star, and the stars unlock new colours for your buses. As you reach goals, new places open in the city: the Stadium after three goals, the Airport after six and the Beach after eight, each bringing new passengers who need new routes.
Your company saves itself on your device, so you can come back tomorrow and carry on from the same day. If you just want to experiment, Sandbox mode gives you unlimited money and every place and bus straight away.
Tips for a profitable company
Start with one route between a big group of homes and the office park, with a single city bus. Add a second bus as soon as the stops fill up. Connect the school early, because the morning school rush is huge. Do not build long routes that wander everywhere: a bus spends most of its time driving, and short busy routes earn more per bus. If a route loses money every day, swap its big bus for a minibus or delete it and try another pair of places.
What a tycoon game teaches
Under the cartoon buses, Bus Company Tycoon is a gentle lesson in how real public transport works. Every route is a trade-off between cost and coverage: more stops reach more people but make every trip slower, and more buses cut waiting times but add to the daily bill for drivers and fuel. The daily report turns that into simple numbers, money in and money out, so younger players can see exactly why a route makes or loses money and older players can start planning ahead, such as saving up for a double-decker before the stadium opens.
Controls
Click or tap junctions to place stops while drawing a route, and use the panel buttons to finish, buy and sell buses, change the fare or delete a route. Keyboard: N starts a new route, Enter finishes it, Esc cancels, Space pauses and F cycles the game speed between x1, x2 and x4.

Frequently asked questions
How do I make a bus route?
Press New route, tap street junctions on the map to place stops in order, then press Done. Each stop costs $50. Then select the route and buy a bus for it.
Why are passengers not getting on my bus?
A passenger only boards a bus whose route also stops next to the place they want to go. Add a stop on the corner of their destination to the same route.
Which fare should I choose?
A $1 fare brings more passengers and a $3 fare fewer. If your buses are full, a higher fare can earn more; if they are empty, try a cheaper fare.
How do I unlock the double-decker and the bendy bus?
Reach company goals. The Double-Decker unlocks after 5 goals and the Bendy Bus after 8; in Sandbox mode everything is open.
Does my company save?
Yes. Career mode saves automatically on your device, so you can continue from the same day later.
Is Bus Company Tycoon free?
Yes. It is free with no download, no account and nothing to buy.
