The simplest bike game you will ever play

Bike Hero Dash is a free one-button bike game that you play in your browser. There is only one control. Hold it down and your bike turns left. Let go and it drifts right. That is all you need to ride a twisty road that goes on forever. It sounds easy, and for the first few hundred metres it is. Then the road gets narrower, the bike gets faster, the bends get tighter and suddenly every tap counts.

One-button games are wonderful because anyone can pick them up. A young child can play with a single finger on a tablet, while an older player can push for a record distance on the hardest speed. Bike Hero Dash is inspired by the popular one-button bike hero games, with a colourful top-down view, four changing worlds and three hearts so that one mistake does not end your ride.

How the steering works

Your bike always pedals forward. When you hold the button, the handlebars turn to the left and the bike curves left. When you let go, it curves back to the right. To ride straight, you tap and release in a quick rhythm, keeping the bike pointing down the middle of the road. To follow a long left-hand bend, you hold for longer. To follow a right-hand bend, you let go for longer.

The road curves in a smooth, natural way, so after a little practice you start to feel the rhythm of each bend before you reach it. A small sign at the bottom of the screen shows whether you are holding (left) or letting go (right), which helps when you are learning.

Coins, stars and obstacles

Lines of gold coins run along the road. Ride through them to collect them all. Sparkling stars appear now and then and are worth ten coins each. Your coins are added up across every ride you play.

The road also has obstacles. Orange cones and grey rocks cost you a heart if you hit them. Blue puddles do not hurt, but they splash and slow you right down. If you ride onto the grass, your bike slows down, and if you stay off the road for too long or ride too far away from it, you take a tumble and lose a heart. After a tumble, you are put back on the road and can carry on.

Four worlds along the way

The ride starts in Sunny Park, with green grass, trees, flowers and bushes. After 400 metres you reach the Seaside, with golden sand, palm trees, beach umbrellas and shells. Next is Downtown, a grey city with houses and street lamps. Then comes Snowy Hills, with white snow, pine trees and snowmen. Ride further still and the worlds start again, but the road keeps getting narrower and faster.

Three speeds

Easy Rider has wide roads and a gentle speed, which is perfect for younger players and for learning the controls. Bike Hero is the classic ride, a bit faster and twistier. Speed Demon is fast and twisty from the very start and is a real test for experienced players. Each speed has its own best distance, so you can try to set a record on all three.

Tips for longer rides

Look ahead, not at your bike. The road ahead tells you which way to steer next. Make small, quick taps on straight sections instead of long holds. When you see a cone or rock coming, decide early which side to pass it on. Do not chase every coin: a heart is worth far more than a coin. And if you start drifting off the road, react straight away, because the grass slows you down and makes it harder to get back.

Great for young children

Bike Hero Dash is one of the most accessible games on AnonArcade. It needs only one button, there is no reading required once the ride starts, and there is nothing scary or violent. The Easy Rider speed is gentle enough for preschool and kindergarten children, and it is a nice way to practise timing and hand-eye coordination.

Play anywhere

The game runs in any modern browser on computers, Chromebooks, tablets and phones, with no download and no account. Press any key, click the mouse or touch the screen to steer. Your best distances and coins are saved only in your own browser. See the Parents & Safety page for more.
