How to play

  • Pick a course. Course 1 is open straight away and every finished course opens the next one.
  • Hold the up arrow or W (or the green ▶ button) for gas, and the down arrow or S to brake.
  • Lean back with the left arrow or A to lift the front wheel onto a log or step.
  • Lean forward with the right arrow or D at the top of an obstacle so the back wheel follows you up.
  • Use gentle gas. Trials is about control, and too much throttle flips the bike over backwards.
  • Every crash is a fault and sends you back to the last flag. Press R if you get stuck.
  • Finish with no faults for the best result. A quick clean ride earns three stars and unlocks bike colours.

Slow down and think

Bike Trials Xtreme is a free trials motorbike game that you play in your browser. Most bike games are about going as fast as possible. Trials is the opposite. Here you ride slowly and carefully over huge obstacles that look impossible at first: a stack of logs taller than your bike, a boulder the size of a car, a gap between two shipping containers, a pile of rusty car wrecks. Your job is to find a way over every one of them without putting a foot down.

In real motorbike trials, riders lose points whenever they touch the ground or fall off. Bike Trials Xtreme uses the same idea. Every crash is a fault. Finish a course with no faults at all and you have ridden it clean, which is the real goal of every course. Finish clean and quickly and you earn the full three stars.

A bike built for climbing

The trials bike in this game is set up just like a real one. It has enormous grip and lots of pulling power at low speed, but a low top speed. That means it can climb steep faces and creep over rocks that would stop any other bike, but it is not going to win a drag race. The suspension is soft, the steering is precise and the bike responds to every little lean.

The key technique is the wheel lift. Ride up to a step slowly, lean back and give a little gas so the front wheel pops up onto the obstacle, then lean forward and keep the gas gentle so the back wheel rolls up after it. Do it too hard and the bike flips over backwards; do it too gently and the front wheel hits the face and stops dead. Getting the timing right is very satisfying.

Four worlds, twenty courses

The Junkyard is where you learn. Scrap Start, Tire Town, Crusher Climb, Rust Bucket and Junk Master are full of old tyres, pipes, shipping containers and stacked car wrecks. The Quarry is next, with Gravel Pit, Rock Steps, Digger Hill, Blast Zone and Quarry King: big rock steps, steep gravel slopes and giant boulders left behind by the diggers.

The Forest courses, Log Hop, Mossy Rocks, Fallen Timber, Ravine Run and Forest Master, are all about natural obstacles: slippery mossy rocks, fallen tree trunks and a deep ravine. Finally, the Night City world takes you through Night Shift, Dockyard, Rooftop Trials, Neon Pipes and Trials Legend, with shipping containers at the docks, rooftop gaps and big pipes glowing under neon lights. Trials Legend is the hardest course in the game.

Tips for clean rides

Stop before each obstacle and look at it. You have time, and a moment of planning saves a fault. Approach steps at walking pace, not at speed. Use the lean keys more than the gas: leaning back lifts the front, leaning forward pulls the bike over the top. On big drops, roll off slowly and lean back so both wheels land together. If the bike starts to tip over backwards, let go of the gas straight away and lean forward.

When you crash, you go back to the last checkpoint flag with one more fault on the board. If you get stuck on an obstacle, press R to return to the flag and try again. Some courses have more than one way through, so if one line doesn't work, try another.

Stars, faults and bike colours

Each course shows your faults and your time. A finish with faults earns one or two stars. A clean ride with no faults earns three stars if you are quick enough. The stat bar above the game counts your stars, the courses you have finished and how many clean rides you have. Stars unlock six bike colours: Trials Orange, Blue Bolt, Green Machine, Red Rocket, Neon Ghost and the Gold Legend bike.

Why trials is great for kids

Trials games teach patience, planning and fine control. There is no rush, no opponents and no violence: crashes are a cartoon tumble and the rider is straight back on the bike. Younger players can enjoy finishing courses at their own pace, while older players and grown-ups can chase the perfect clean ride on every course. It is a brilliant physics puzzle disguised as a motorbike game.

Play anywhere

The game runs in any modern browser on computers, Chromebooks, tablets and phones, with no download and no account. Use the arrow keys or WASD on a keyboard, or the round touch buttons on a touchscreen. Your stars and faults are saved only in your own browser. See the Parents & Safety page for more.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. It is a free trials motorbike game that runs in a web browser with no download, account or plugin.

How do I get over a big step or log?

Ride up slowly, lean back and give a little gas to lift the front wheel onto the obstacle, then lean forward and keep the gas gentle so the back wheel climbs up after it.

How many courses are there?

There are 20 courses in four worlds: Junkyard, Quarry, Forest and Night City.

How do I earn three stars?

Finish the course with no faults, under the target time. Rides with faults earn one or two stars.

Is it like Trials HD or Trials Fusion?

Does it work on phones, tablets and Chromebooks?

Yes. Use the keyboard on computers and Chromebooks, or the on-screen buttons on phones and tablets.
