A sea full of islands
Island Hopper Boat Adventure 3D is a free island adventure game that you play in your browser. You have a little motor boat, a full tank of fuel and a whole tropical archipelago to explore: eleven islands with sandy beaches, palm trees, wooden jetties and friendly villagers. Somewhere among them is the secret of an old pirate treasure map, torn into four pieces.
The islands are real 3D places, each with its own shape and character, from Coconut Cove and Parrot Point to Turtle Bay, Lighthouse Key, Mango Atoll and Volcano Isle. Dolphins race alongside your boat, seagulls wheel overhead and the waves sparkle in the sun.
Talking to the villagers
Every island has a jetty with a glowing ring beside it. Slow down and stop inside the ring, and you can talk to the people who live there. They always have something they need: coconuts delivered to the market, a lost parrot called Kiwi, baby turtles that need help, a message in a bottle, oil for the lighthouse lamp, pearls from the lagoon, ice for a scientist and a trip to the volcano. Each finished quest brings you closer to the treasure.
The treasure map
Some quests reward you with a piece of an old map. Find all four pieces and the map is complete: it shows the way into the hidden lagoon of Skull Island, through a narrow gap in the rocks. The final quest, The Legend, takes you there to find the Captain's treasure.
Fuel and upgrades
In Adventure mode your boat burns fuel, and long trips between far-away islands use a lot of it. Keep an eye on the gauge and fill up at the fuel pumps at Coconut Cove, Lighthouse Key, Banana Island and Pearl Lagoon. If you run out, a friendly tow brings you home. Coins from quests buy upgrades at Captain Coco's shop: a stronger engine to go faster, and a bigger fuel tank to go further.
Shells, stamps and paint
Twenty golden shells are hidden around the archipelago: on quiet beaches, behind rocks and near the far islands. Every island you reach gets a stamp in your passport, and discovering islands unlocks new paint colours for your boat, from Sunny Yellow to Lagoon Teal, Coral Pink, Jungle Green and Pirate Black. Open the big map with M to see where you have been and where the shells might be.
Free Roam
Free Roam switches off the fuel and the quests. It is just you, your boat and the islands: perfect for younger players, for hunting shells and for racing the dolphins.
A gentle adventure
There are no enemies in Island Hopper and nothing to fight. It is a calm, friendly adventure about exploring, helping people and following clues, which makes it a lovely first open-world game for younger players. Children practise reading a map, planning a route between islands, keeping an eye on a fuel gauge and remembering who asked for what. Older players can race to finish the treasure hunt with the fewest fuel stops, or try to collect every shell and every passport stamp. Bumping into a beach or a rock just stops the boat; back up with S and carry on.
Tips
Slow down before you reach a jetty ring, because boats glide. Plan a route that passes a fuel pump when you are going to the far islands. Use the big map to find islands you have not visited yet. Buy the fuel tank upgrade early. And talk to everyone: some quests only appear after you have helped someone else.
